Axiom Verge World Records

Overclock

This page is dedicated to the speedrunning community and records set in Axiom Verge's built-in Speedrun Mode.

Rules

  • To qualify, a speedrun must be documented with video evidence using the in-game timer from start (selection of "Start New" on Speedrun Mode screen) to finish (with the final stat screen showing the difficulty, time, item & map percentages, and death count). A video may not have any cuts.
  • Save Warping (exiting to the menu to return to a save point) is allowed, but must be shown in the video without cuts.
  • Speedruns must be completed in one sitting. Closing the game or turning off the console is not allowed.

Hey! What's with all the rules? See the QA section below.

QA

Why are the rules so strict?

  • The rules are strict to keep the speedrun time valid.

Why do I need a video of the speedrun? Can't I just screencap the ending screen?

  • Uncut video evidence proves that the speedrun is genuine and unique. A screengrab can be forged, copied, or photoshopped. Showing the speedrun uncut, in its entirety, means other members of the speedrunning communtiy can verify the run, the time. The video can also be checked against other videos to prevent stealing from another runner, since no two videos will be exactly the same.

Why don't the Steam Global Leaderboards count?

  • Leaderboards of any kind are imperfect and can be hacked.[1] Complete video evidence is a more reliable form of proof.

How do I make a video longer than 15 minutes?

  • You can use Twitch.tv or Ustream.tv to record your gameplay. Both sites allow recording long periods of gameplay and both sites have methods of uploading recordings to Youtube. If you're playing on PC, you can also use fraps or other video recording software.

Youtube has a video length limit! How can I upload a video that is longer?
