  • Hey KosnIre! I'm Emptylord, and I'm the Fandom Wiki Manager for Axiom Verge Wiki. I introduced myself on your Boards, but just wanted to drop you a message personally since you're one of the more active editors around here. Basically, if you have any questions relating to the wiki, I hope to be your first point of contact.

  • Hey, hate to ask again, but can you try to modify the theme to use this file as the background?

    http://axiom-verge.wikia.com/wiki/File:Wiki-background.jpeg

I keep staring at the left side with it's jpeg artefacting integer-scaled 4.25 times.  I have this wiki open for hours at a time and it's always bugged me.  I spent a couple of hours recreating the image to make this version.  It was done for promotional, so Tom must've made it himself as that arrangement of tiles isn't anywhere in-game.  In particular the face and neck-tubes are different from the final version.

Thanks for adding the bestiary to the dropdown and changing it to have thumbnails for all the enemies.  That's what I wanted most here.  I am having a great time ripping this game apart.  It's not very often I find one I want to decompile a game to see the inner workings.  A few more big edits and I'll actually be able to play through the game more fairly far before doing one of these huge data rips by diving through the code.

I have something fairly exhaustive I will have to do for Trace.  I found most of his default variables, but it'll be difficult to format it all into english and make any of it relevant or usefull.

It will also be difficult to decide what information about the bosses will be relevant or useful to the wiki.  I still don't even know how to tell how many HP they have.

I think these type of things should be up for forum discussion, but that is actually more work and takes much longer than deciding myself.  Also, for some reason, the forum doesn't have many visitors.  Reminds me of some of my old fansite forums :P

    • Ah, I thought I had seen this somewhere, but I couldn't find it again. I'll do some looking around and see if I can figure out how to swap it for your version.

it'll be difficult to format it all into english and make any of it relevant or usefull.

      Yeah seriously.

Also, for some reason, the forum doesn't have many visitors.

I have thought about bugging the Reddit and Gamefaqs communities to all congregate here, but my assumption is that they like their own forums, heh. I don't know, maybe it wouldn't hurt to make a post and see who shows up. There's definitely some anonymous traffic on the rest of the Wiki though. It's hard to find specific numbers, but I can tell there are people reading up on info here.

    • It's interesting when you compare the images side-by-side (old, new), her neck is very different. I'm thinking this is because when Pinkachu created the Wikia, she used pre-release promotional materials... like this image that she uploaded with the Kilver.

    • Okay, I had to download it and re-upload it in the "Themes" view. I kept all the options the same otherwise since they are the same resolution and roughly the same file size. For me, it cuts off the door at the bottom, but it does that on the old one too. This definitely looks cleaner and more detailed. Thanks for the update! :)

    • Sweet, thanks.

Currently compiling the data for Kur.

Found some interesting stuff that was left out of the final product.

  • Can you try to add another category in Exhibition mode - a graphical layout?

      Loading editor
    • Hmm, not sure. I think you're talking about this?

      It says:

"The most popular eight pages in your categories are already displayed as images, but this feature will list all of your pages as image links sortable by name, recency, or popularity!"

So, if I turn it on, it will show images for all the pages in each category. I think that sounds good. Is this what you mean?

        Loading editor
    • Yeah!  That's it!

      Oh hey, try this out:

      http://anapan.525lines.moe/AXView.zip

      Start Tiled, then load /tilemaps/area1.tmx

so cool!  Also, there's some data XMLs that list a lot of the details of the game in the /Xtras directory.  It'll easily help fill out almost all the rest of the important data we need on the wiki.

Also, can you add that Bestiary to the Gameplay dropdown menu?

Also, can you try changing the background to that new one I uploaded?

I'm not sure exactly what I will tackle next, either building data-infobox-only (for now) pages for every enemy, or start filling out the data from Tiled into each area's page.  I may try adding infoboxes for each area with all the stats...

  • Those additions you made are great!  I'm not sure how much time I can spend adding to the wiki during my out-of-town contract work (10-25 days starting September 21st), but it's high on my priority list.  I will attempt to make entries as I'm able.  My first goal is to now create per-enemy integer scaled enemy images so their thumbnails fit within the frames created by Wikia's software criteria;  This will require many additions and deletions of images to figure out the limitations.  Once that is complete, I can make up a final master folder of any and all images based on the original size and the required scaling without corrupting the pixel art.

Next, I will try to spearhead the trophy/achievement list, gathering tips and information from the various forums to make their entries more robust and useful.

I'll concede on the term "glitch", it's more prevalent in the userbase than "corrupt" and is therefore now a standard term.  Just like new dictionary words are added based on the common usage.  I will still endeavor to minimize it's use in my entries.

I agree with your decision to use your enemy names over the texture file names.  Based on "word of god" this is the way to go - your names will then become canon if all goes well.  It's certainly better than the random descriptions everyone's been using to describe enemies - there needs to be a standard.  This is *the* wiki, and given Tom's okay, that is the correct way to proceed.  What I will need from you then is a translation table of which file names are which enemy names.  In particular, I want to know which enemies are definitely required for the Hacker trophy, and which sprites I ripped are not part of that trophy's requirement.  Is the number truly 60?  If my laptop's up to it, I can play through the game again with the purpose of finding any unknown variables to solidify any unknowns.

So-far I do not recognize Porcupine and Streeg.  I do not believe I've seen them in my game.  Granted, I still haven't actually progressed any further than the first few rooms of Mar-Uru.  I will probably actually re-start the game before I proceed any further (I made it to endgame in Final Fantasy VIII Four times over the course of 6 years before actually beating it -  the pleasure is in the journey, not the goal)

No rush;  I will be busy for the next few days getting to know the crew and task I will be assigned (this involves after-work drinking which will take up most of my computer and sleep time).

Glad to be able to help!  I want to make this Wiki be the central nexus of information on Axiom Verge.  As information is added, more will join the cause and make it complete more rapidly.  As I see it now, the most useful user-gathered data is scattered through several forums and blogs.

During my down-time at work I will try to gather this information from the various social media and forums to add to this database.  Every new useful addition will draw more people here so we can solidify more of the mechanics of the game.

Edit3: This is something I've been wondering.  Trace's profession - he's a Theoretical Physicist - does the game state that in a cutscene?  Did the game mention a laser?  Is that device he's using in the intro a Hardon Collider?  How did he and Dr. Hammond actually traverse the Breach?  How old is Trace when he first arrives in Sudra?  His ingame image appears to be 29-34.

I've read a lot of the Reddit AMA, tho I should scour it for information to add here.  Should I ask Thomas some questions about his notes?  If the page on ORN is any indication, he's got a crapload of notes, pencil drawings, renderings, and alpha/beta files and likely has a whole history and timeline (however sparse) that details any and all of these questions.  Certainly he's given nearly full disclosure to many gaming sites before and after the release, but there's a lot of information and files tht were given 5 word answers on that AMA (it was a short timeframe after all).

    • - It's a wiki, so everything is up for discussion :) Take a look at Sudran Squid. I made some changes with your suggestions and used one of the images you provided. I think it looks pretty good.

      - The Category:Bestiary page lists all enemies needed for the Hacker trophy (although a bit spread out). When I did my Hacker run, I was using the imgur link in the References section on that page. Cortant, GrippingHands, Hugger, and Porcupine, Zeborg are all hallucinations and cannot be glitched (I've tried). I don't recognize Streeg either. Strange. But that leaves us with 57 enemies, meaning either A) a sprite image is missing, B) a sprite was reused for two logically distinct enemies (I think it's very likely for TrapClaw_Gamma.png), or C) we have the number incorrect. It's very hard to determine which enemies actually count (you would have to be able to reset the trophy an use a different enemy as the final one, or else be able to look at the game code while playing). Oh well, we'll just have to do the best we can!

      - A couple of these names I actually like better than what I have. Will-o'-the-wisp instead of Lambent Pollen, Arachnotopus (or Arachnopus is easier to say aloud?) instead of Sudran Jumping Spider, Prongfish instead of Tunnel Hopper (maybe? not sure), and Annihiwaiter is a funny name for the Platform Robot. He's like a waiter, serving up annihilation (...but...passively)! That made me laugh.

Edit [Nov, 25 2015]: Corrected my link to the Bestiary page, so that this thread is NOT included in that category.

  • I had fun adding enemies to the wiki, but I'm not doing it well - they should be edited or deleted (IMO) because they don't have that information block on the right side.  as well, my X6 images are getting cropped.  I created them to make all the enemy images show up in the thumbnail view as per this wikia developer blog entry:

    http://community.wikia.com/wiki/User_blog:Kirkburn/How_images_are_picked_to_represent_articles

I gather from that, the images all need to be a certain size.  If they are not, the software could choose another linked image or create a text snippet as an image (and it did).  I can create batch scripts to make each enemy image fit the criteria...  What a pain in the ass - per-file sizing.  Let me know if you have a work-around.

I ripped these images because I wanted a gallery of the enemies available, and there was none.  Maybe you could give me some pointers.  I'd like to add and link all the the media I ripped from the data files so it all cross-references, but above all I just want an enemy gallery with all the information on all of the enemies.

Further, I'd like a cross-referenced encyclopedia of all the information needed to achieve all of the trophies/achievements available in the game.  I'll never attain them all, but in playing I had great difficulty finding all of the necessary requirements, and this wiki does not have thet yet.

Also, I've been trying hard not to use the word "Glitch".  It's non-cannon and never appears in any official text.  It'd be convenient to use it, but I've been instead linking the Address Disruptor.  Is there any other word you know of...

Ack!  They used it in the press kit!

    http://www.axiomverge.com/press-kit/

    Still, doesn't seem right.

    • I had been thinking this recently as well. We need several templates to establish consistency across the wiki. I'm just learning them myself. I started by creating Template:Enemy Page. You can use it by editing a page and typing {{ which should then bring up a dialog where you can select the "Enemy_Page" template, and it will ask you to fill in some information. I'm sort-of still working on it—not quite sure how to fit in a standard image yet, which as you say would be very nice. I also think I'll add a "filename" entry per your other post. Thanks for all the help here! It's good to see interest in building out the wiki :)

Also, I think it's a great idea to add a trophies/achievements page and it would be cool if you could get that started.

Regarding the word "glitch": you are correct that it's not used in-game. The closest we get is the word "corrupt" used in the description of the Address Disruptor 1 or the word "artifact" used by Elsenova when you enter a Secret World. However, I don't really have a problem with the word "glitch" as it is widely used by the community when discussing the game, and thus will be well understood for informational purposes. I would concede that in Lore-related content, we could use "corrupt".

  • I noticed you have done a lot of editing to this wiki.

Yesterday, I figured out how to view graphics from the game outside of the game.

Today I ripped a bunch of them, added transparency, and named the graphics.

I'm not very good at doing Wiki editing, do you think you could add some of this stuff?

    http://anapan.525lines.moe/Axiom_Sprites.zip

    A few notes;

    Gill - Laser

SpitBugBoss - Ukhu Spawns - need to be glitched

Donaught - Final boss spawns - Need to be glitched

Volg - How do you hatch it into that tentacle thing?  it's the first thing you see at Edin's far-right, but seems to be inanimate.

A couple of these I've never seen - I read on the Reddit AMA that there was going to be an ocean level (reason for the underwater limit/countdown), so they may actually be ununsed.

I'm only 94% through the game, and I haven't obtained a secret gun yet, so the gun icons aren't all named yet.

I may not check back here for a while, so email me - Anapan8@hotmail.com for more information.  I can rip more, but what's there is most of the useful things I could find.  The rest are mostly in peices.  There's a quirk with the graphic viewer I used that cuts the last little bit of the picture off, so I cannot get the portraits fully.

Edit: I added a few more files, and updated the archive.

    • The Volg (I called this a Silk Pupae)...if I remember right you can glitch it with either the Address Disruptor 2 or the Address Bomb. However, I have never seen it turn into the tentacle thing shown in the spritesheet. That's really weird. I wonder if it's an easter egg, or maybe something he drew, but never used?

Thanks for the graphics! I play on PS4 so I don't have access to this stuff.

  • Been a while since I visited this wikia. I updated the information on the main page to be more helpful and accurate. I seed new communities for Wikia as part of my position as a Community Developer, so a majority of them are eligible for Adoption by default. I find it exciting when a user comes behind me, pick the wikia up and becomes an active contributor. I rarely hand out access unless it's a wikia I started and plan to work on long term. Appying for Adoption is pretty simple tho and I certainly encourage you to do so.

    • Wow! What crazy timing! I had just found the adoption page and submitted a request . I was sad to do so at first, but it makes me feel a lot better to know that it is your preference! :)

I really like the theme you chose for this wiki, so I would definitely keep it. I'm hoping if I keep adding information, it will attract fans of the game!

I will update my adoption request with a note that you responded to me! Thanks! ^^
