Kiengir is a world in Axiom Verge 2, where most of the game takes place. It was the native home to the Sagiga and an offshoot of A'ansur[1]. The world is home to several lands, including, but not limited to, The Glacier, Mount Ebih, Lake Amagi, the Giguna Steppes, Irikar, Uhrum Valley, and Anunna Gorge. Several kingdoms were here at one time, with the land of Kiengir encompassing not the whole planet, but only a select area of land. It is mentioned that Irikar was the land of a different people than those who lived in Kiengir, and were described as enemies.[2]

Traits[]

Unlike Sudra, Kiengir is a very earth-like environment (albeit with a toroidal shape, instead of the normal speroid)[3]; the sky is blue, the grass is green, and there is plenty of life. However, the vast majority of sentience found in Kiengir is composed of drones - machines under the control of the Lamassu who exist to protect the sanctity of Kiengir.

There are no more Sagiga in Kiengir, other than the Arms - special Sagiga who were turned into weapons, physical enhancers, and machines to fight against the demon threat referred to as Udug. In the past, it was a very populous world with several lands and large cities.

The other unusual aspect of Kiengir is that there are many entrances to the Breach, several exposed and others requiring the use of the Arm Ki'Inimak to examine. Some of these are found in fairly inconspicuous areas, such as behind walls or stone, but several are found on what appear to be altars, with a special engraving on it portraying the Worldstream. This engraving is also found on some walls in the Giguna Steppes.

Etymology[]

The name Kiengir derives from 𒆠𒂗𒄀, or k-en-gir, the name used by the ancient Sumerians to refer to their world, meaning "country of the noble lords"[4], and many of the names used in the game are Sumerian. Additionally, a ruler mentioned in several in-game inscriptions, Melem-Ana, was a real life king in the 26th Century BCE[5], although not much is known about him.
