For the in-game Note called "A'ansur", see A'ansur (Note).

A'ansur is a holy place mentioned in Axiom Verge 2, described as the mother world to countless worlds, including Kiengir, Engur, and many others. It's commonly analogized as a tree, with the worlds being its branches. As such, these worlds cannot exist without A'ansur. It is briefly implied that Trace attempted to go to A'ansur, in his efforts to travel upstream from Sudra.[1]

Story[]

A'ansur portal AV2

The inactive portal to A'ansur, shortly before its obliteration from existence.

Most denizens of Kiengir revered A'ansur as their mother, however, many others were proud skeptics. Mageshgetil and Elutil, later known as Amashilama, were both skeptics of their world. Not only did they hold suspicion for the ones they praised as their gods, but they had a firm belief that Kiengir was nothing more than a slave to A'ansur.[2] They felt that it was their duty to sever the worlds, to be free of A'ansur and keep it from dragging them into the depths.

During the events of the game, Amashilama tries to finish her plan to destroy A'ansur by using the Siuna; tools and bodies created for the Apocalypse Arms to inhabit, circumventing the need for a Wielder. These had been previously locked away in A'ansur by the Lamassu as a contingency after the first one was deployed, but one remained in Kiengir. Indra has to defeat Amashilama before she can use the portal with this Siuna and commence her (likely universe-ending) plan. To do so, Indra must activate a Breach bomb - one of the "storm bombs" the Sagigans referred to - and use it to obliterate the portal to A'ansur from reality, and preferably escape before it obliterates her as well. Amashilama attempts to put an end to Indra here, almost succeeding - if it weren't for Indra's original body showing up at the last moment, previously believed to be dead for good after Amashilama abandoned it for the Siuna. The original Indra manages to subdue Amashilama's Siuna long enough for nano-Indra to activate the bomb, and escape before the timer counts down to zero. She escapes in time, just making it past the blast doors as the contents of the entire bunker - portal, Amashilama and original-Indra and all - are erased from existence by the Breach bomb... alongside any remaining ways for nano-Indra to go home. Afterwards, Indra seeks a way to get into A'ansur, employing Drushka's help, but not so much in an effort to get home; moreso in pursuit of the technology A'ansur holds, and ostensibly to find a new body for Damu to inhabit.
